Broccoli and Sesame Paneer

  • 200g tenderstem broccoli spears
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 6 curry leaves
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 140g paneer, cut into strips
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • ½ tsp ground mace
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Steam the broccoli for 5 mins until tender but with a bite. Drain, and set aside. Heat the oil in a wok, add the cumin seeds, asafoetida, sesame and mustard seeds, chilli, and curry leaves. Cook for 1 min, then add the onion and cook for 2 mins more.
  • Toss in the paneer strips, garlic, and ginger, and season well. Cook for 5 mins or until the paneer is golden, then add the cooked broccoli and mix through the spices and paneer. Add the lemon juice and mace, a twist of pepper, and serve.
