Gnocchi-topped Fish Pie

  • 350g pre-made gnocchi
  • 200ml milk
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 400g mix of salmon, smoked fish, and prawns
  • 4 spring onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp chopped chives
  • 150ml crème fraîche
  • 1 tsp capers
  • 200g peas
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 250g green beans, cooked, to serve
  • Pop the gnocchi in a large ovenproof frying pan, cover with boiling water and a pinch of salt, and simmer for 3 mins then drain and set aside. Combine a splash of milk with the cornflour, mix to a smooth paste, then whisk in the rest of the milk. Pour into your frying pan, add the fish mix and the spring onions, and bring to a simmer. Stir until nicely thickened - about 5 mins. Season well, stir in the herbs and crème fraîche, peas, and capers.
  • Heat the grill. Arrange the cooked gnocchi on top of the fish and sauce, and brush with oil. Season well, then grill for 5 mins or until the gnocchi is a little bit puffed and golden. Serve with green beans.
