Meatball Curry Recipe

  • 450g beef mince
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
  • 400g tinned tomatoes
  • 1 tsp tomato puree
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • Cooked rice, to serve
  • Firstly, make some quick meatballs. Mix together the mince, garlic, half the onion, garam masala, and egg in a bowl, and with wet hands, shape them into 24 meatballs.
  • Preheat your grill. Grill your meatballs on a tray for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned all over, and set aside. While they’re cooking, heat the oil in a pan, and add the cumin seeds and remaining onion. Soften for a few minutes, then stir in the ginger.
  • Add tomatoes and turmeric, and stir in tomato puree. Cook this down for 15 minutes, then turn down the heat and add the meatballs. Cook for a further five minutes, ensuring the meatballs are well covered. Serve immediately with cooked rice.
