Minced Beef and Onion Crumble

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Handful of peas
  • 125ml beef stock
  • 1 heaped tsp tomato paste
  • 75g salted butter
  • 125g plain flour
  • 50g rolled oats
  • 80g grated mature cheddar
  • Salt and pepper
  • Preheat the oven to 200C. Place the mince and onion in a large saucepan and fry for 5 mins. Stir in the peas, cook for a minute or two more, then add the stock, Worcestershire sauce and some seasoning. Cook for 5 mins, covered, then transfer to an oven dish.
  • Add the butter and flour to a mixing bowl and rub until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats, cheese, a pinch of salt and a few good grinds of black pepper, then sprinkle over the mince mixture and bake for 25 mins. Leave to rest for 5 mins, then serve with your choice of greens.
