Brendan's early passion for wine saw him jet off to France straight after school to see what it was like to work in a top notch winery. And it didn't disappoint. He headed home to skill-up his wine expertise and study viticulture in Adelaide. This is where he met Laura, and convinced her to focus her agriculture brains on the noblest crop... grapes. Their mission is to produce their favourite easy to drink Italian drops on Australian soil and make them accessible to the youth young Australian wine lovers. Join us while we pick the winemaking brain of Brendan and get the skinny on what its really like making Italian varietals in Australia!

Meet the Maker: Chris Lawrence from Fetherston Wine!

Some wineries are headed by those who seem to have inherited their skills from generations of winemakers. Others get there from raw talent, ambition, and a hell of a lot of hard work. The team behind Yarra Valley’s Fetherston Vintners definitely sit in the latter camp, and their dedication to exploring and experimenting with lesser-known varietals is more than paying off. Fetherston Vintners is run by Chris Lawrence, a former top chef with a serious commitment to flavour, and Camille Koll, who earned her stripes working for Domaine Chandon. Together, their hard-earned knowledge of grape varietals and flavour profiles combines to create something really rather special; a modern, dynamic Yarra Valley winery, unafraid to take risks and stick its neck out to get the results it deserves. If you haven’t yet discovered the fruits of Chris and Camille’s passion project, well... it’s high time you did something about it.

Winemaker Interview: Whistler Wines

Sam and Josh are zealous young guns with a record of fabulous local gigs and international experience stretching as far as Canada! But more importantly, the two brothers have a dialled-in commitment to handling their vineyards and wines as sustainably and natural as possible. So once they took over their family vineyard management, it didn’t take long before they transitioned to organic and biodynamic farming practices, and a hands-off approach to winemaking. The result? Quality cool-of-the-night harvested fruit, traditional small open concrete fermenters and bottling the wines with no fining and no filtration. That's an ode to the planet we can pour a glass to! Join us while we learn from Sam the challenges and rewards of sustainable winemaking in the Barossa!

Meet the Maker: Malcolm Leask from Hither & Yon

Brothers Malcom and Richard Leask are always on the lookout for the corners of their vineyards which produce the most spectacular fruit, and which go on to lead to deeply characterful bottles of top-notch McLaren Vale wine. Which is why they named the winery  ‘Hither & Yon’, in reference to the annual game of hide-and-seek they believe they play with the landscape each harvest season. With a range of grape varietals to play with (including some unusual ones which are a welcome break from the norm in this wine region), these brothers are pushing the envelope for small-scale Aussie winemaking, and are doing it with a sustainable approach and a sense of fun that’s totally infectious. Join us while we learn more about what goes on behind these amazing wines!
