Best's Winery

Often we like to showcase new and upcoming winemakers and wine regions. But there is definitely something to be said for passing generations of experience down from one caring pair of hands to the next.

And whilst in this great Southern Land we can't quite go as far back as our European counterparts when it comes to winemaking, the Best's Winery definitely has firm roots in the ground, having produced wine for over 148 years in Victoria’s Great Western region.

Henry Best originally purchased the land in 1866 and spent the next three years painstakingly clearing the land to lay the foundations of what is today a world-class winemaking estate. Today the reigns are firmly in the hands of 5th generation family member, Ben Thomson and hotshot young winemaker, Justin Purser who came directly from a three-year intense understudy in Burgundy.
