Classic Cubano Sandwich
- 150g roast pork, sliced or shredded
- 2 small baguettes, sliced in half horizontally
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 4 slices of roast ham
- 4 slices of emmental cheese
- 2 sliced gherkins
- Knob of butter
- Preheat the oven to 180C. Wrap the pork in a foil parcel, and bake in the oven for 10 mins until piping hot throughout. Meanwhile, spread the baguette halves with mustard, and layer with slices of ham and cheese. Add the pork and the gherkins.
- Melt a knob of butter in a griddle pan, and brush the outside of the sandwiches with melted butter. Lay the sandwiches on the griddle pan, and use a baking tray weighed down with tins to compress the sandwiches, flattening them a little. Cook for 5 mins on each side, or until you get griddle marks on the bread and the cheese is melted - delicious!
