Ingredients
Method
- 50ml olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 650g beef mince
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tbsp flour
- 150ml red wine
- 4 sprigs of thyme, leaves only
- 400ml beef stock Worcestershire sauce, to taste
- Salt and pepper
- Mashed potatoes, to top
- Cooked green beans, to serve
- Heat half the oil in a large pan, and cook the onions until softened. Remove and set aside. Fry the mince in the same pan for 5 minutes to brown all over, then stir in the cooked onion, tomato puree, and flour. Cook for a couple of minutes, then add the wine and thyme.
- Add the stock and simmer for about 45 minutes. Season to taste, add a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce, and heat the grill to high. Put the mixture in a baking dish, spoon or pipe over the mashed potato, and grill for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Serve with green beans. Yum!
