Luxury Steak and Blue Cheese Sandwich Recipe
What you'll need:
- 225g sirloin steak
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 slices of quality bread
For the blue cheese sauce
- 75g blue cheese
- 4 tbsp double cream
- Salt and pepper
Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 1
Method
First
Let’s start by cooking our sirloin perfectly. Rub a tbsp of olive oil all over your steak (which should be at room temperature), and season well with salt and pepper. In a very hot pan, cook the steak for 3-4 minutes, turning once, or until cooked to your liking. Leave to rest on a plate for 3 minutes, then cut in half.
Second
Rub the remaining olive oil on the bread, then toast in the same pan you cooked your steak in.
Third
To make the sauce, simply add the blue cheese and the double cream to a small saucepan, and cook on a low heat while stirring until all is melted and combined. It really is that simple!
Fourth
To serve, slice the steak and put into the sandwich along with anything else you fancy (onion rings work well here), and then drizzle with the sauce. It’s a messy eat, but my god, it tastes divine!
Wine Match
This dish deserves to be paired with the complex, spicy and savoury [Painted Wolf 'The Den' Cabernet Sauvignon 2015] (https://www.thewinegallery.com.au/wines/details/painted-wolf-the-den-cabernet-sauvignon-2015/). This is one of those wines that tastes great when served with steaks! Delicious!
