Traditional Italian Meatballs Recipe

What you'll need:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
  • 150g chopped onion (the finer the better)
  • 900g minced beef
  • 2 tbsp of freshly chopped herbs (your choice, but marjoram and rosemary works well)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper
Serves: 6

Method

First

Heat your olive oil in a large, heavy pan. Add your onions and garlic, and gently sweat and soften them for about four minutes. Remove from the pan, and put in a large mixing bowl.

Second

Into the bowl, add your minced meat, along with the herbs, the egg, and a good bit of seasoning. Mix it all up with your hands, then form into 24 equally sized balls (about the size of a walnut).

Third

The meatballs will need to be fried on a good heat for about 10 minutes, in about 3 tbsp of olive oil, until browned all over. Best served with a classic tomato sauce, and lots of spaghetti… although you can eat them however you wish.
