Patatas Bravas with Chorizo and Tomatoes



  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 sliced garlic cloves
  • 1 red chilli, chopped
  • Pinch of smoked paprika and cayenne pepper
  • 400g tin of chopped tomatoes
  • 1kg new potatoes, halved
  • 250g cooking chorizo, chopped into chunks
  • Heat the onion, garlic, and chilli in the oil until softened, then stir in the paprika and cayenne. Add the tomatoes, bring to a simmer, and cook down for 20 mins until a thick paste is achieved. Season well.
  • Steam the potatoes for 10 mins, and fry the chorizo in a pan until the oils are released. Pour out the excess oil, add 1 tbsp of olive oil to the pan, then chuck in the potatoes and fry until everything is golden and crisp. Tip into a bowl, and serve with a sprinkling of sea salt and your homemade sauce.
